Do you have credit card facilities?
Yes. We accept all major credit cards.

Can I get there by public transport?
Our lodge is very accessible by public transport. Simply catch a bus to Upala and get off in the town of Bijagua. See our Contact Us page for more details.

How do I get there by car?

Do you speak English?
Many of our staff are proficient in English. Our tours can be conducted in English also.

What is the weather like?
Our community is located between two volcanoes. The climate varies between sunny mornings and rainy afternoons as well as days that are really warm and others that can be very rainy.

Do you accept travellers cheques?
We do not accept travels cheques, but the Bank (Banco National) in Bijagua does.

Do you offer tours?
Yes. We have a diverse range of tours on offer. A list of recommended excursions can be found on the Tours page.

Can I call overseas?
We have a public phone from which you can make local and international calls.

Do you have internet facilities?
We do not have internet facilities at the lodge. There are five internet cafes in Bijagua.

What wildlife will I see?

mThe rainforest is home to an enormas number of animal species. We can not guarantee what you will see, but you may have the chance to see many of the 300 species of birds that have been identified the immediate area of Heliconias Lodge and Rainforest as well as an enormous variety of insects, reptiles, amphibians and mammals.

What special birds might I see?
The Ornate Hawk Eagle, Rofous-vented Ground Cuckoo and Tody Motmot can be found in our private reserve.

Is there a chance to learn more about the local community?
Yes! You can take a tour in the local area and also visit two local co-operatives. See ‘Community’ for more information.

Who owns the lodge?
Heliconias Lodge and Rainforest is owned and operated by ten local Costa Rican families. For more information see ‘About Us’.

Can I volunteer at Heliconias Lodge and Rainforest?
Yes. We welcome volunteers year round for a varietyy of short and long terms community development and conservation projects. See ‘Volunteering’ page.

Can I make a donation to Helcionas Lodge and Rainforest?
Yes. You can support our project and make a donation to Heliconias Rainforest and Lodge and contribute to conservation in our local area.
