Volunteer at Heliconias Lodge

Volunteering is an excellent way to experience Costa Rican culture and get to know more about our lodge, rainforest and local community. Heliconias Lodge and Rainforest has received volunteers for over ten years from Costa Rica and all over the world including the following countries; Mexico, USA, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Australia.

Annually volunteers come and stay at the lodge (or at home stays within the local community) and participate in diverse projects including construction, maintenance, conservation, English teaching and projects focused on community development, sustainable development  and ecotourism.

You can volunteer with us at Heliconias Lodge and Rainforest from anywhere between one day to one year! You will work alongside our workers and other volunteers at the lodge and may have the opportunity to design and implement your own project. Please contact us to apply.

Price per person per day: $17 (This includes three meals  and lodging in the volunteer station).

Lodging and meals: You will stay in our Volunteer Station which consists of male and female quarters with bunk beds and private bathroom with hot water. You will be provided three delicous meals a day from our restaurant. Home stays can be arranged ($20 per day including meals).

Schedule and Duties: Your work schedule is 8:00 am to 4:30 pm five days a week. You will work alongside our workers and other volunteers in some of the following areas: Trail and garden maintenance,  Conservation programs, teaching English, working in the restaurant, Environmental Education, tree planting, community projects, working with the COOPEJUBI youth group.
